Emmie Beckitt.... Back By Popular Demand

EmmieBeckittSeventeen year old Emmie Beckitt is Bridlington's very own classical Soprano singer. At the young age of just 13 years old Emmie won first place in "Yorkshire Coast Got Talent". At the age of 14, Emmie successfully gained a place to support the Mezzo Soprano Katherine Jenkins. She also recently sang at a Tim Rice concert "The Hymn" composed by Sir Tim Rice himself and, at the age of 15, had a classical single out in collaboration with the classical pianist, composer and TV presenter, Rick Wakeman. Both Emmie and Rick are patrons of the charity Kids n Cancer and all the profits from the sale was donated to the organisation.

Emmie said...my future is hypothetical, I am only 17 and at the moment I want to make my education my priority. Emmie is currently in her second year studying her A level, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and hopes to go on to University and gain a degree in Astrophysics.

However, there is nothing Emmie loves more than singing on her holy ground, and especially at the Spa in Bridlington. She is looking forward to performing at the Bridlington & Yorkshire Coast Business Awards and wishes all an enjoyable evening.

Lea Roberts

When Lea was elected by the viewers of TV series "Stand Up Britain as outright winner, comedy had a new star. Lea had however been working as a stand up for many years but
finally got his big break when he scooped the title, trophy and a 1st prize of £7000 on the live final screened by ITV1 in October 2002. Lea was up against 6 other comedians from the 144 who started in the competition, and winning the final with 75% of the total vote, including first place in London, North West, and Yorkshire regions.

With a sporting background, (following retirement from professional rugby league (playing for Halifax RLFC), he still coaches a local rugby club) Lea is a well known face on the after dinner circuit in and around the North of England, and has worked with numerous sporting celebrities, and following his success on Stand Up Britain is now beginning to carve out a career further a field.

Lea’s comedy is traditional Northern humour, but with a more modern approach; Lea was runner up in the Cup A Soup Comedy challenge in 2000, where the heats were held in
various Yates’s Lodges across the country, before finally playing at the Comedy Club in London, proving his adaptability. 2004 sees him appear on the ITV variety show
“That’s Entertainment” with a host of other well known entertainers.

One of the few comedians able to work in both “mainstream” and “alternative” environments. Offering a traditional stand up act, Lea appeals to audiences young and old, with an adult, yet inoffensive and clean speech.

Testimonials:

We’ve had nothing but excellent feedback from all our team on Lea’s ability to deliver humour to a mixed audience who, although from all over the UK, certainly understood the importance of pints by the end of the night. We thought Lea pitched his act perfectly and we will use Lea again in the future.
Andy Shaw, Director of Operations, McDonalds Restaurants

Can you convey my thanks to Lea who worked extremely hard on the night and went down an absolute treat with the 240 guests in the marquee. I have no hesitation in recommending Lea to work for any Wooden Spoon functions throughout the UK.
Graham Read, Wooden Spoon, Lancashire West

We would like to express our thanks and appreciation for your professional performance at the Mansfield Dinner on Friday night. The event was an outstanding success and I have had very positive feedback from members and that is in no small part made possible by yourself in your excellent performance.
Sue Hunter, National Fedaration of Builders

They have gained first place certificates on every occasion at the Eskdale Music Festival. SAJO have also reached the finals of the National Music Festival Music for Youth and performed at the Birmingham conservatoire.

The Jazz Orchestra has performed at many locations in and around Scarborough including at the grand re-opening of Scarborough’s, Heritage Rotunda Museum in 2008. The Jazz Orchestra have also appeared in Scarborough town centre and in concert with the Scarborough Concert Band on a number of occasions and are in great demand around the area all year round playing at many Charity events throughout the year. They have gained a reputation in North Yorkshire as being one of the finest young Jazz ensembles in the area who play with energy, enthusiasm and finesse along with many outstanding improvisers within the band.

Last year SAJO also won the Scarborough News Award for artistic contribution to the North Yorkshire Coast which is a fantastic achievement for the band. In 2015 the band played at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Evian Music festival, two highlights of the bands performances to date!
